Liard Hot Springs is a completely different kind of experience than we’ve had before! Most hot springs are channeled into swimming pools and many have chemicals added. This is totally natural, flowing out of the ground at 122 degrees quickly enough to stay fresh. How close you can get to the spring depends on how much rain there has been lately to mix in with the boiling water. There’s another, cooler pool further down. The only infrastructure added are some boardwalks, stairs and changing rooms. The bottom of the pool is in its natural state and is surrounded by wildflowers and butterflies. There’s a state campground associated with it, and people come from all over the world again and again to soak in the spring.  The warm water attracts lots of moose, but we didn’t see any….
