Wolfeboro, NH is an idyllic small town where I grew up and Jeff’s parents spend the summer. Their condo on the lake is a magnet for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the summer. We stayed nearby for six weeks to enjoy family and fun-in-the-sun.
One of our favorite activities is anchoring the boat in Johnson Cove and swimming.
We watched the 4th of July parade which is always a good time – just big enough to be entertaining but not so long it’s boring.
Jeff and I took the boat to Wolfeboro to see the fireworks from the best vantage of all.
One weekend there was an antique boat show at the town docks – pretty impressive.
There are lots of fun hikes in the area where you get a rewarding view of Lake Winnepesaukee from the top.
Turtleback Mountain in Ossipee, NH is one of 3 places in the country where this polygonal lava formation is found. The other two are in California and Wyoming.
Jeff’s son Richard, his fiance, Ashley, and their son, Abel, came up for a visit. At 4 months, he was happy to be held by everyone.
Jeff caught up with his college roommate Chris and played a round of golf at Wentworth by the Sea. Apparently it was yellow shirt day. Chris has re-acquired the Honda Passport motorcycle that he and Jeff got their motorcycle licenses with and used to use to commute to UNH from Dover. Its still running strong!
Jeff also got to play a round of golf with his parents at Bald Peak. Mom almost had another hole-in-one!
We went to a ‘Journey’ concert at an outdoor venue in Gilford, NH. It was strange being some of the youngest folks there!
Jeff’s sister, Nancy, hosted a family gathering for their Dad’s 85th birthday. It was great to have 4 generations of Friedrichs’ playing in the sun…
One evening there was a cool moonrise over the Turtle Kraal RV Park.
We also got to visit with another of Jeff’s roommates Kelly and her husband Tim. They came by to see what trailer life was like and we had a great evening hearing about the last 30 years! It is amazing how you can drop back into such a comfortable conversation after all that time!
And now we’re off to the Catskills for my son Jason’s wedding!
